With two different oceans – the icy Atlantic and the warm Indian – bordering the country, there are a large numbered of surf spots with a wide variety of waves. So no matter if you’re a beginner or if you’ve been around since Captain James Cook, you’ll find something to suit you. This icon idicates good surf stops.
  • Nature in South Africa

There is lots of it. And most of it is protected so there are huge tracts of unspoilt loveliness that will have any nature lover coming back for more. This icon indicates naturally beautiful areas away from any major civilisation.

This Coffee Bay backpackers is perfectly set for any mood!

This Coffee Bay backpackers looks out over the beach
Situated on Coffee Bay’s main beach, Sugarloaf lies at the Nenga (whale) River Mouth. Begin your day with a freshly ground cappuccino while watching the sun rise over the ocean. Wander down to the rugged Wild Coast cliffs at the end of the beach, exploring bays and caves en route. Come home and lounge on leather couches whilst watching the kingfishers diving into the lagoon, cows strolling on the beach and the surfers ripping Coffee Bay’s right hand point break. Wait up. Why aren’t you ripping that point break? Must be ‘cos you’re waiting to eat at the sea-view seafood restaurant. Lunch in the garden, candle-lit dinners, tastebud tantalizers, and everyone’s welcome, so bring that hot surfer you bumped on the beach. A cocktail from the Tokoloshe Bar is a great ice breaker. Another one and, oops, watch out for global warming...
