Located in the beautiful Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary and one of the most scenic hostel settings in Southern Africa, Sondzela overlooks a valley where wild animals roam and impala, zebra and warthog graze on the edge of the gardens. Accommodation is spread over two separate houses with communal facilities including a swimming pool while campers are surrounded by fruit trees, chirruping birds and hippos lounging in the lake. Those in need of some privacy can head for the traditional Swazi rondavels* with their wonderful views.
The staff are friendly and full of useful information on Swaziland, Mozambique and South Africa. They’ll happily organize a variety of activities - marvel at wild animals on a spectacular horse ride, mountain bike or walk through this peaceful wonderland. After an adventurous day relax with a buffet-style traditional Swazi meal around the campfire or a few nightcaps in the relaxed Hog ’n Wart Bar. All in all, it’s an incredible African experience at backpacker rates.
