Located in the centre of the village, this thatched backpackers lodge has a pub and restaurant and is just a stones throw from the beach.
From N2: Take Humansdorp turn off and follow the signs to St Francis Bay. At St Francis Bay traffic circle, turn left, right at T-junction, continue straight to St Francis Drive. At T-junction, turn right. Raggies is 200m, on the right.
Located in the centre of the village, this thatched lodge has a pub and restaurant and is a mere 200m away from the beach. Take a morning jog and you'll find the river canal system on the side of the rising sun and the Monaco-style fishing harbour over on the western side. The best reason for coming here though, is being in St Francis Bay, the home of many a surf legend.
One of the most enduring is 'Endless Summer', the movie. Some guys, a combi, a video camera, and the sickest waves this side of Hawaii. It all happened here. Yup, this is where Bruce's Beauties thunder in on those wicked summer days. So bring your board and a prayer and watch the wind and the weather. You could just be in luck.
But if you don't have the combi, the Raggies bus picks up at Humansdorp and shuttles you back to the backpackers. They'll also load you, your board and some mates and take you wave hunting in the neighbouring surf meccas of Cape St Francis (5km away) and Jeffreys Bay (20km away). So wotcha say Bruce? Bruce? Hey! Anyone seen Bruce?
