About Homestays
Kwam eMakana (My Place in Makana) is a self-help venture that offers township homestays with local families in basic single or double accommodation with traditional meals on request.
This poverty alleviation project aims to ensure that township residents derive economic spin-offs from the annual Grahamstown Festival, and today there are 55 homestays, mostly owned by women over 50 years old.
This urban cultural experience doesn’t end there. There are also 4 Kwam taverns and 12 Kwam taxis you can use.
