This ex-mafia mansion was built in the 1970’s by an infamous drug lord. When the Godfather moved out, the backpackers moved in and discovered the mansion’s many treasures - hidden safes, lovely gardens and a hilltop swimming pool. Relax in the bar, play some pool, watch satellite TV or enjoy a drink while the sun sets over a great view of Jo’burg.
A buffet breakfast is included in the rate and they offer pub lunches and home-cooked dinners daily. Join them for a cook up on their gas grill, or make a fire for a traditional braai. Alternatively whip up something in their well equipped kitchen with its gas and electric stoves.
Access to Brown Sugar is via a controlled entrance, and they have personal safes, private lockers in all the dorms and CCTV cameras (so watch what you get up to!). They offer internet, a wi-fi hotspot for people with their own laptops, luggage storage and sell souvenirs, postcards, airtime and phone cards for their public phones.
They run local tours and safaris to the Kruger Park and are close to Eastgate Shopping Mall and the Bruma Flea Market with all its African arts and crafts.
