Blue Mountain Backpackers
Hit the city centre and expereince life on Long. Standing guard on the corner of Long and Bloem Street, this lovely old building has all the frills and furbelows the Victorians loved. Only now, after a bunch of nips and tucks, she’s all funked up with colourful attitude and re-incarnated as a backpackers’ lodge. Her position on one of Cape Town’s hippest streets means that jollers* need look no further as this is where it all starts, ends and bends. Lay claim to a view on one of the balconies. There’s always something on the go down below, so enjoy the free show. Or join in and offer your own piece of street theatre. Take time out from the city in the communal kitchen, TV lounge or dining area. Then when you’re ready to kick arse again, hit the street running or nip across the road to “Zanzibar” for a refresher. The Blue Mountain crew own another lodge and have already answered 1623 053 questions about travel, so they know a lot. Ask their travel desk about day trips, overland tours, safaris and car rental. They’ll reveal, and book it all. And if your money’s the wrong colour? They do foreign exchange. Nice. Velly nice. Rates Dorms from R100; Doubles/Twins from R300; Singles from R190.
