Jolling is a wonderful Afrikaans word for PARTYwhy-because-you-canING. And there’s lots of it in Southern Africa because the people are friendly , the beer is cheap and the nightlife whatever you want it to be. This icon tells you when to put on your dancing shoes.
  • Baz Bus

The Baz Bus is a hop-on’ hop-off backpackers bus that has a variety of routes around South Africa. It’s an easy way to get from A to B and a fun way to meet other travellers. We have only included it to help you plan your route. This icon shows you all the Baz Bus stops.

Ashanti is one of Cape Town's biggest hostels. They are busy, organised and knowledgeable and have a great building in a good location.

Ashanti rocks. Always has. Always will.
Lying at the foot of Table Mountain, this gorgeous Afro-Victorian mansion has impossibly high ceilings, enormous picture windows, lounging balconies and open sundecks. Once you’ve soaked up the rays, it’s just a few steps down to the swimming pool or up to the Kumasi Bar where you can down some post-expedition fuel in the form of scrumptious breakfasts, lunches, pizzas and snacks. The bar buzzes with groovy tunes and shows all major sporting events on a mega-big screen TV. Give their zooty kitchen a test drive and whiz up an impressive meal. Then whip down to the totally wired and completely 21st century internet café to tell mum all about it. If you’re one of those that believe life’s too short to be anything but stylish, then head over to the decadently divine guest houses next door where you can spoil yourself (and someone else). Looking for an adventure? Visit the incredibly helpful and friendly Travel Centre who will book anything from a shark cage dive to a township tour. Psst. They have a sister lodge in Green Point, so why not stay there too and check out another part of Cape Town?
