Scottburgh/Park Rynie

Close to great scuba diving at Landers Reef and Aliwal Shoal, this is a good stop for underwater enthusiasts.


Park Rynie is named after the wife of one of the original owners of the land, which was a farm. The farm is long gone and now Park Rynie is a small resort with a lagoon and a sheltered beach where water sports enthusiasts can paddle, dive and swim. During WW1 a whaling station was created here – all that remains is the Rocky Bar Pier breakwater at one end of the sheltered beach. These days the whales cruise past the shores in safety…
