Pietersburg Pietersburg is the capital of the northern province. Pietersburg was founded in 1886 by Voortrekkers who had been forced to abandon their camp by malaria and "hostile natives". Today it is the capital of the northern province and serves the surrounding agricultural communities. Winters in Pietersburg are mild with little or no rainfall and summers are warm with a fair amount of rain. You can see zebra and white rhino at the Pietersburg Nature Reserve (which is pretty much in the town).
