Swellendam lies beneath some of the most spectacular peaks in the Langeberg range. These peaks used to be used as sundials by the farmers who called them 10, 11, 12 and 1 o'clock. Today, old oak trees, wide roads and whitewashed homesteads recall Swellendam’s past as a frontier town. From here there’s easy access to a myriad outdoor wilderness experiences.

Southern Right Whales arrive in their droves (or is that pods?) between July and December each year to breed and calve in Walker Bay. The ocean around Hermanus is shark infested, so if it’s an adrenaline boost you’re after try the Great White Shark cage diving, they’ll use you as bait!
There are also 14 kilometres of absolutely awesome cliff paths that follow one of the most beautiful coastlines in South Africa.
