Greyton Overberg

Greyton is rural tranquillity and quaint country scenes. There is a backpackers lodge in town.

Cape Town in the mountains!

Greyton a picturesque Cape country village, lies less than two hours from Cape Town. Popular for its peace, quiet, clean mountain air, lazy village walks and cosy winter fireside nights, it’s small, safe and sleepy with miles of mountains to explore. Over weekends, Greyton comes alive and the deli, a six pack of restaurants, art galleries, second hand shops, and Saturday market burst into action.
The Greyton to McGregor Boesmanskloof hiking trail is a popular 14km hike. Many more beautiful hikes, varying in length from 1 to 6 hours, and pockmarked with clear mountain streams and pools dot the area. There are also several marked mountain bike routes and bikes to hire.
7kms from Greyton  you’ll find Genadendal, the oldest mission station in South Africa, with its rich history which is well portrayed in the museum.
The Genadendal Church Square, restored buildings and huge shady oaks give the town a tranquil atmosphere.
