Gaborone
Botswana's capital city.
Lying in a wide valley between the Kgale and Oodi hills, this colourful city is the capital of Botswana. Named after Kgosi (Chief) Gaborone who led the Batlokwa tribe into the area in the 1880s, it lies only 15km from the South African border post at Tlokweng. The city offers all the usual amenities including casinos, shops, restaurants, services and supplies, as well as an excellent National Museum with outstanding exhibits and an international airport. The Gaborone Game Reserve is in town, and the Mokolodi Game Reserve lies on the outskirts of the city.
